[LIST] 12 Fun-filled Korean Drama Households We Would Love to Join

We know that many of the best Korean dramas don't just build the main couple, but they also create side characters we grow to love. One of the best ways to showcase the minor characters in a series is to toss them all together in one big house! Trapping opposites into a confined living space is a great recipe for both humor and emotional connection. In watching the hilarious K-drama roommates out there, we sometimes wish we could move in and join the fun. Here are 12 K-drama households we would love to join:

Note: This list only covers the drama households where 3 or more people live together, so it doesn't include all of those wonderful dramas where a man and woman share a house on their own.

1. It's Okay, That's Love

There are many reasons why this show topped the DramaFever Weekly Top 10 for much of its run, and those reasons aren't confined to the chemistry between leads Gong Hyo Jin and Jo In Sung. Fans loved all of the side characters in the shared house, especially Lee Kwang Soo's Soo Kwang. I would love to live in a house with these characters, but I would also settle for joining in on the cast's Thailand vacation.

2. Flower Boy Ramen Shop

If there's one trend in K-drama cohabitation, it's that one girl generally gets surrounded by a gang of handsome men. Flower Boy Ramen Shop takes full advantage of this setup, not only giving Yang Eun Bi a love triangle under her roof, but tossing in delightful comedic relief with Park Min Woo's "Crazy Rooster" and Jo Yoon Woo's "Angel Boy." Once you factor in the delicious ramen, you have what might be the best housing setup of all time.

3. Sungkyunkwan Scandal

Wait, she has to sleep sandwiched between Yoochun and Yoo Ah In? And Song Joong Ki might drop in at any moment? Where do we sign up for this school?

4. Discovery of Romance

As the Drama Club has pointed out, Joon Ho and Sol have quickly become some of the best characters on this show. Frankly, Han Yeo Reum seems like the obvious weak link in this house. Then again, it's her mom's house, so without her, we might not get Joon Ho accidentally barging in on Sol.

5. Rooftop Prince

Without Park Ha's guidance in their rooftop home, this time travelling gang from the Joseon era would have been totally lost in the modern day. Fortunately, she was able to teach them the ways of tracksuits and omurice.

6. Answer Me 1994

On the other hand, if I could travel through time, I wouldn't bother going to the Joeson era. Nope, I would go straight to 1994 Seoul and live at this boardinghouse. First of all, the parents are, quite possibly, the best parents on any drama ever. Second, I would love to share a house with Oppa—no, wait, Chilbongi—no, Oppa—no...Haetae? In any case, it sounds like a fun time.

7. You Are Beautiful

For most people, being trapped in a house full of handsome musicians would be exciting, but if you're a nun pretending to be a boy, it gets a little awkward. That didn't stop her from having dreams about her roommates, though!

8. Protect the Boss

Not all of the roommate situations involve a gang of men. No Eun Sol and Lee Myung Ran have been rough-and-tumble besties for years. Tossing in the clueless and spoiled Seo Na Yoon sounds like a recipe for disaster, but it actually helped us love her character more! That's a pretty rare occurrence when it comes to second female leads.

9. Blade Man

The very first time we meet Shin Se Kyung's Son Se Dong, she's trying to hide her pack of male roommates from her landlord. She's definitely the leader of this ragtag group, finding ways to get them out of trouble. They may be trouble, but at least they're funny!

10. Dream High

I don't know if living in a house with Suzy's, Taecyeon's, and Kim Soo Hyun's talented characters from Dream High would be amazing or intimidating. With Uhm Ki Joon as the parent figure, it might just be worth it, just as long as they didn't force me to do a family talent show or anything.

11. Boarding House No. 24

This new series premieres on Wednesday, and from what we have seen so far, it looks like the house will be filled with interesting personalities.

12. Roommate

This isn't technically a drama, but watching everyone interacting in the same house is the entire draw of the show! When the producers announced that they would be bringing in new roommates for season 2, quite a few fans wished they could join the Roommate family.

[LIST] 9 Male idols Who Conquered Korean Dramas

We've been grooving here with High School, Love On. If you are not watching it, it is a fun high school romance starring Infinite members Woo Hyun and Sung Yeol. The developing onscreen bromance of the real life band members is almost as fun as the onscreen romance. It got us thinking though, what are the best drama roles from our favorite K pop stars?

9. Yong Joon Hyung of Beast in Monstar.
Alright, easy pitch right down the middle of the plate here. Monstar is the perfect high school K-drama. The bullying is mild, the stakes are real (OK real-ish. Reviving a TV show for a high school battle of the bands? Does that really happen?) but not Dramaland crazy, and, best of all, every single character is a realized person whose motivation is understandable. So why does Yong Joon Hyung languish here in ninth place? Because Kang Ha Neul stole that show, even if he didn’t steal the girl away from our K-pop lead.

8. Kim Jae Joong of JYJ in Protect the Boss.
As Cha Moo Won, he could have easily slipped into the “hot but bad” category and become a two-dimensional character. Instead, he was by turns ruthless and soulful with his own hopes, dreams, and foibles. BB cream anyone?

7. Jung Yong Hwa of CNBLUE in Heartstrings.
There are times when the second lead should get the girl and the travesty of it is so great they give him a whole new drama to make up for their mistakes. This is what happened to Yong Hwa. He was so sweet and wonderful in You’re Beautiful, it was outrageous that he lost out to an excessively pouty Jang Geun Suk. It was extremely satisfying to see him take the lead and get the girl.

6. Lee Jong Hyun of CNBLUE in A Gentleman's Dignity.
By turns cocky, vulnerable, and funny, Jong Hyun’s role as Colin is not to be missed. He had an uphill battle to shine amidst the charismatic leads of the main stories, but he really makes an impression and left us wanting to see how his friendship with Kim Woo Bin would develop.

5. Kang Min Hyuk of CNBLUE in Heirs.
This is the last entry from CNBLUE, I swear. Maybe. For all the Lee Min Ho and Woo Bin partisans in Heirs, Min Hyuk’s performance as the warm, funny, caring Chan Young stole a few hearts. It is always nice to see a drama character who doesn’t do, well, drama. Chan Young knew who he was, what he wanted, and where he was going. His grounded performance provided much needed sanity in an the midst of the “who’s the most heartbroken” one-ups-manship among the leads.

4. Choi Si Won of Super Junior in Oh! My Lady.
A top lofty star meets the very cute child he never knew he had and learns how to be a father. That’s a scenario guaranteed to melt your heart a little, even if you are a skeptical grinch. You can see more of Siwon in the series Skip Beat!.

3. Lee Hong Ki of F.T. Island in Bride of the Century.
Much like Yong Hwa, Lee Hong Ki captured hearts in You’re Beautiful, but it wasn’t until Bride of the Century that he got to play a character that made all the right moves. As Kang Ju, we watched Hong Ki progress subtly from a cold, closed man to warm and earnest bridegroom. Hong Ki will show off more of his acting chops in Modern Farmer.

2. Lee Seung Gi in King 2 Hearts.
Oooh this is one that got all our drama friends gushing! In the words of one fan: "First you get the playboy son, then the love story, then James Bond. One thing I really loved was the progression of Lee Seung Gi from teen boy to manhood. I could really see the confidence and power that position requires.”

1. Park Yoo Chun of JYJ in Rooftop Prince.
It’s no secret that we love Yoo Chun. He brings the feels, is one of K-drama’s most convincing criers, and has boatloads, yacht loads, nay, Super Tanker loads of charisma. While some K-drama buddies lobby hard for Sungkyunkwan Scandal, and I Miss You is good every time you need a good cathartic cry, Rooftop Prince is still the best Yoo Chun role to date. From affronted pride of a Joseon King confronted with a crane machine, to heartbroken husband, to tender lover, and every shade in between, Yoo Chun made the role come alive and swore us off persimmons forever.

Footnote — During our poll series, Big Bang’s “Alive” mini-album was accidentally listed under the full-length album poll instead of the mini-album poll (our mistake — sorry!). Unfortunately, there was no way for us to immediately rectify the situation at the time of its discovery (as the polls were already well underway) without throwing off the rest of the results. There are several things that should be noted, however: empirically, the mini-album got 2nd place in the full-length album poll at 16.33%. Additionally, the number of votes it received was close to two times the number of votes that were cast for the 1st place winner of mini-album poll (Miryo), which leads us to believe it probably would have won for best mini-album had it been listed under the correct category. As this can only be conjectured, all we can do present what data we have, and encourage our readers to interpret the results as they see fit.
